INTRODUCTION:
Pile loading tests are carried out to verify that the piles have the capacity required to support the structure to be built. Applying a load on a pile instrumented with sensors, these tests are able to determine the displacement of the pile applying a load, thus defining the load-settlement curve. This article describes how these tests are executed and their range of applications, which exceeds in certain projects more conventional tests such as static and dynamic tests.
