Performing & Analyzing Integrity Tests

Training for professional test engineers

Duration:             2 days

Price:                     € 1525

Once an in-situ foundation pile has been constructed, only the pile head remains visible. Everything below ground is hidden — unless you know how to reveal it. That’s why advanced integrity testing methods were developed: to ensure every pile has been built as designed.

Since the 1950s/60s, the Sonic Integrity Test (SIT/PIT) has become the standard rapid screening method for checking the quality of foundation piles. In the Netherlands, as in many other countries, almost all piles undergo SIT testing.

This intensive two-day course is designed for both new and experienced users, regardless the equipment brand. You will learn how to perform reliable measurements, recognize pitfalls, analyze signals, and professionally assess the condition of foundation piles.

After completing the training, participants will be fully capable of carrying out SIT measurements in the field, evaluating signal quality, interpreting results, and determining pile integrity with confidence.

What You’ll Learn

Hands-on. Practical. Immediately applicable.
  • How to correctly perform SIT/PIT measurements
  • What equipment you need on site
  • The crucial — and often overlooked — effect of the hammer
  • How to interpret SIT signals with confidence
  • Detecting diameter changes: enlargements vs. reductions
  • Distinguishing soil effects from pile defects
  • Determining pile toe and pile length
  • Understanding stress wave velocity
  • Quantitative interpretation method using the Site Characteristic
  • To simulate pile defects to learn to recognize them in the signals of real piles
  • Qualitative interpretation using AllWave-SIT
  • How to prepare clear, professional reports
  • Practical exercises, case studies, and real-life examples

Theory That Matters

A solid foundation for better decisions:

  • 1 Dimensional Stress Wave Theory
  • Free vs. Fixed End behavior
  • Shaft friction and impedance
  • Shape changes in the pile
  • Real measurements & simulations
  • Working with Allnamics-SIT software

Who should attend?

  • SIT/PIT measurement specialists, testing engineers
  • Engineers evaluating SIT results
  • Designers of foundations, geotechnical engineers
  • QA inspectors
  • Piling contractors

Learn how to reveal the actual condition of a foundation pile — and interpret the story behind every signal.

Become Confident. Accurate. And in Control.
